TRAFFIC ALERT | UNIVERSITY AVENUE

Beginning Monday, September 14, crews will replace streetlight poles along the north side of University Avenue.

Motorists should expect rolling lane closures as work progresses along the corridor. Arrow boards and other traffic-control devices will guide drivers through the work areas.

The project is expected to take up to two weeks to complete.

Please use caution, watch for crews, and allow a little extra time when traveling through the area.

💙 MEET OUR NEWEST TEAM MEMBER! 💙

Please join us in welcoming Jessica Machovec, our new Social Worker serving both the Middleton Senior Center and the Middleton Police Department!

Jessica joins the City of Middleton with experience working in remote Alaska school systems and in hospice care in the Madison area. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from St. Ambrose University.

Throughout her career, Jessica has focused on supporting individuals and families, building meaningful connections, and helping people navigate life's challenges. We are excited to have her bring that experience and compassion to our Middleton community!

Jessica will divide her time between the Senior Center and Police Department, providing support and connecting people with resources when they need them.

And a fun fact about Jessica... 🍫

She was born in Hershey, Pennsylvania — the Chocolate Capital of the World! She jokes that this is why she's "just a little sweeter than most!" 😊

Food security has been a prominent topic in the news lately. Whether it’s rising grocery prices, upcoming eligibility changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or alarming hunger statistics—there’s a lot of information to sort through.

On September 30, 6:30-7:45 pm, join our panel of experts at the Middleton Public Library to learn what’s behind this rise in food insecurity, how the food system works and how that system has changed, and how our community can work together to ensure everyone has access to enough nutritious food to thrive.

Jocelyne Sansing, Director of the Middleton Public Library, will facilitate a panel of guests, including:
🔸 Jackie Thurnau-Anderson, Executive Director, Feeding Wisconsin
🔸 Meghan Sohns, Vice President of Programming, WayForward Resources
🔸 Jennifer Wagner, Director of Medicaid Eligibility and Enrollment, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities
🔸 Nicholas Heckman, Food Systems & Food Security Coordinator, Public Health Madison & Dane County
