Warm weather is finally here, and we know many of you are heading out to enjoy our beautiful lakes.

But remember—while the air may feel warm, the water is still dangerously cold this time of year. Cold water shock can happen in seconds, even to strong swimmers.

Please wear your life jacket every time you’re on or near the water. It’s the simplest way to protect yourself and the people you’re with.

Every few years, Middlesex Ambulance responds to drowning incidents on Canandaigua Lake. One life lost is one too many—and these tragedies are preventable.

Help us keep our community safe. Wear your life jacket.

NEW: Two people were rescued after a boat capsized on Canandaigua Lake. Officials say both were wearing life jackets and were pulled to safety by a nearby boater. They were checked at shore and did not require further treatment.

Your ambulance service stands ready with crews on duty, just like any other day.

Weather and road conditions will rapidly deteriorate throughout Sunday and into Monday. Heavy snow fall rates and blowing and drifting snow will be a concern. Don't go out, unless travel is essential and be prepared for the weather with sufficient water, clothing and cold weather gear.

Wishing our residents, visitors and families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The holidays are like any other day for the fine EMTs, Paramedics, Dispatchers, Doctors and Emergency Room Hospital staff of our EMS system; they stand ready to serve their community as emergencies and mayhem don't take holidays off. Thank you to the providers and their families for enduring that sacrifice.

" Birds not sirens." ~ The New York State Sheriffs' Institute & Summer Camp is beginning a new funding campaign to fund the creation of an ALL (Police, Fire, EMS, Dispatchers) First Responder Wellness Camp at the site of the Sheriff's Camp on Keuka Lake. This would be a first of its kind in New York. Consider supporting ALL first responders.

As you “fall back” and set your clocks for the end of Daylight Saving Time this weekend, take a few extra minutes to ensure your home is fire-safe.

✅ Test all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to make sure they’re working properly.
✅ Clean alarms by gently vacuuming or dusting them to remove debris that could affect performance.
✅ Replace batteries if needed, and remember, smoke alarms older than 10 years should be replaced entirely.

These simple steps take just minutes but can make all the difference in protecting you and your family.
