Middlesex Moments 5/15/26: Here’s what happened across our schools this week!

NJSLA testing continued at our elementary schools this week. Pictured here, Watchung’s third grade students wrapped up three days of testing and were excited to finally relax and celebrate being done!

At Von E. Mauger Middle School, eighth grade students in technology class began construction on their game design challenge. Students are designing original games that combine creativity, storytelling, and problem-solving as they plan gameplay, create visual elements, build prototypes, and revise their projects based on feedback.

The Middlesex High School Key Club represented Middlesex at the 2026 New Jersey Key Club District Conference in Asbury Park. During the weekend, officers participated in workshops, served as delegates to help elect the 2026-2027 District Board, and were recognized for their accomplishments throughout the service year. The club earned recognition as a Distinguished International Club, while President Estefania Sierra and Editor Antonia Sierra were recognized as distinguished officers. Jared DeSagun, a member of the New Jersey Key Club state board, was also recognized for his dedicated service as Lieutenant Governor.

Middlesex Moments 5/1/26: Here’s what happened across our schools this week!

104 students from Watchung Elementary School participated in Bring Your Child to Work Day! Watchung also welcomed 17 staff members’ children, who spent the day experiencing school from a new perspective.

At Middlesex High School, Mrs. Smith’s FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) organized a fun-filled Bring Your Child to Work Day event for more than 50 children of staff members. Activities included slime, bracelet making, rock painting, sticker making, a scavenger hunt, gym games, esports gaming, and more!

At Von E. Mauger Middle School, 8th grade artists in Mrs. Pang’s class got hands-on with papier-mâché, transforming simple strips of paper into imaginative sculptures. In 6th grade science, Mr. Comella’s students examined earthworms up close, bringing textbook learning to life through dissection and observation.

At MHS, the Drama Club wrapped up its record-breaking run of Grease!, delighting audiences with the classic, toe-tapping musical.

MHS also celebrated Senior Decision Day, recognizing the Class of 2026 as they begin committing to their post-graduation plans, including college, military service, trades, and career pathways.

Finally, Spring Spirit Week at MHS ended with the annual hallway decorating contest, featuring creative class themes:
Class of 2026: Toy Story
Class of 2027: Cars
Class of 2028: Alice in Wonderland
Class of 2029: Zombies
