Attention Rising Juniors & Seniors!

Middlesboro Independent Schools is excited to share an incredible summer opportunity through the MIT and Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College-Middlesboro!

The Summer Calculus Prep Intensive is a 3-week program designed to help students prepare for calculus through hands-on learning experiences alongside college mentors and MIT student mentors.

📅 July 6–24
⏰ 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
📍 Southeast KCTCS – Middlesboro Campus

This opportunity is open to rising juniors and seniors who will be taking calculus next school year. Lunch will be provided, and space is limited.

Summer School will begin Monday, June 1, 2026, and continue through June 25, 2026.

Buses will run between 7:00–8:00 AM each morning. Please be patient during the first few days, as it may take a day or two to finalize and adjust routes and pickup times.

We are excited to welcome our students for a great summer of learning and enrichment!

A huge congratulations to Abby Jackson, our 2026 Mountain Laurel Princess Candidate! Abby was absolutely radiant at the Mountain Laurel Festival alongside her es**rt, Mekhi Young. From the gorgeous gown to the unforgettable smile, she represented MHS with elegance and poise every step of the way.

We are so proud to see our Yellow Jackets shining on such a special stage! 💕🐝

What a day for Jacket Nation at the Class 1A State Championships! These athletes didn’t just compete… they put Middlesboro Track & Field on the map in a BIG way! 💥

🥈 Joseph Killion battled his way to STATE RUNNER-UP in the 400M Dash
🥈 Jarelle Lawrence soared to STATE RUNNER-UP in High Jump
🔥 Aiden Larew placed 4th in the 300 Hurdles
🔥 Brent Thompson placed 4th in the 110 Hurdles and 5th in the 300 Hurdles
⚡ Thalia Partin brought home 4th in the 100M Dash and 8th in the 200M Dash

AND THEN… the boys relay team said “make room for the trophies.” 👀🏆

Your 4x400 Meter Relay team are STATE CHAMPIONS!!! 🥇🐝

To top it all off, the boys team finished 3RD IN THE STATE… the BEST performance in school history! 📚🔥

This team has worked, sacrificed, pushed through injuries, exhaustion, pressure, and every early morning and late practice imaginable… and tonight, all that hard work paid off. Middlesboro is PROUD. 💛🖤

⚡️STATE CHAMPS. LET THAT BUZZ FOR A MINUTE.⚡️

The Middlesboro Yellow Jackets just FLEW their way to the top, bringing home the 2026 KHSAA Class 1A Boys’ 4x400 State Championship! 🐝🏆💛🖤

These boys didn’t just run a race… they left everything on the track for Jacket Nation. Heart. Speed. Grit. Determination. And now? STATE CHAMPIONS sounds pretty good next to Middlesboro.

From the first handoff to the final stride, they showed Kentucky what small town pride and big time hustle looks like. We are beyond proud of this team, these coaches, and the way they represented Middlesboro on the biggest stage.

The hive is HYPED tonight, Jackets fans! 🐝🔥

Congratulations to our Middlesboro Lady Jackets Softball Team on bringing home the 52nd District Championship! Your hard work, grit, teamwork, and determination have made Jacket Nation proud all season long.

These girls showed up, battled hard, and proved once again that the hive is buzzing loud this postseason! 💛🖤 Congratulations coaches and players on an incredible accomplishment.

Middlesboro High School is hosting the 52nd district softball tournament this week.

The semi-final games are scheduled for tonight with Harlan High School and Harlan County High school with first pitch at 5:30.

Middlesboro and Bell County will play the second game at 7:00.

Some general information for the fans:
*Regular season passes and coaching cards will not be accepted
*Cash and Card accepted at the gate
*No parking in the grass area with the exception of umpires.

Summer is here… and the best part of summer is CAMP! ☀️🏐

There’s still time to register for MHS Volleyball Camp and guarantee your camp T-shirt!

We are excited to welcome athletes from ALL schools for 3 days of learning, competing, improving skills, and having fun!

This year’s camp will feature instruction from 3 former collegiate LMU volleyball players:
🏐 Lauren Kiwacka, Hall of Fame Setter
🏐 Lia Bevins, Defensive Specialist
🏐 Ashley Russell, Outside Hitter

Both went on to coach competitive club volleyball teams and are excited to pour into the next generation of athletes!
