Browse our delightful array of quaint shops, inns, and historical sights in our village. There are approximately 700 people currently residing in the town of Middleburg. Established in 1787 by Revolutionary War Lieutenant Colonel and Virginia statesman, Levin Powell. Powell purchased the land for Middleburg at $2.50 an acre from Joseph Chinn, first cousin to George Washington. Previously called "Chinn's Crossroads," Powell chose the name Middleburg because of the town's location midway between Alexandria and Wi******er on the Ashby Gap trading route (now Route 50).

Here's how to spend a September day in Middleburg.

Start with a walk down Washington Street and let the boutiques and antique shops pull you in along the way. Head out to one of the wineries just outside town for the afternoon, then come back for dinner while the game's on.

Cooler evenings, a fire pit going, and the countryside just starting to turn. This is the stretch we look forward to all year. 🍂

SOUTH PENDLETON STREET CLOSURE FOR SEWER REPAIRS

Starting Monday, August 17, the Town’s contractor will be performing critical repairs to a sewer line on South Pendleton Street between Washington and Federal Streets. What to expect:

- No through traffic on S Pendleton St between Washington and Federal

- Limited access to S Pendleton St only from Washington St to get to the driveway behind Northwest Federal Credit Union/Middleburg Antique Emporium

- No access to S Pendleton St from Federal St

- No access to the Middleburg Methodist Church parking lot from S Pendleton St

- W Federal St will be reduced to one-lane of traffic in the area of S Pendleton St

Please be cautious in the area and follow all traffic directions.

The Town anticipates the sewer repair will take two weeks to complete and that the road will be reopened by Friday, August 28, weather dependent. The road will close again for a short duration in the following week for final pavement restoration.
