Browse our delightful array of quaint shops, inns, and historical sights in our village. There are approximately 700 people currently residing in the town of Middleburg. Established in 1787 by Revolutionary War Lieutenant Colonel and Virginia statesman, Levin Powell. Powell purchased the land for Middleburg at $2.50 an acre from Joseph Chinn, first cousin to George Washington. Previously called "C

hinn's Crossroads," Powell chose the name Middleburg because of the town's location midway between Alexandria and Wi******er on the Ashby Gap trading route (now Route 50).

VOLUNTARY WATER CONSERVATION IN EFFECT

Effective Friday, June 12, 2026, the Middleburg Town Council has enacted Voluntary Water Conservation measures.

Ongoing drought conditions in the region and concerns with declining water levels in the wells that supply the Town led to Council's decision to request voluntary efforts by users of the system to reduce or eliminate all non-essential water use.

At 82 years young, Elaine Tibbs is still "loving life" and looking for ways to help her neighbors. Elaine shares her journey of finding a "church home" at Shiloh and Asbury, falling in love with the community and the "all-day meetings" that allowed everyone to come together in fellowship.

From makeshift bowling with rocks on Windy Hill to "fighting" to get onto the basketball court at the community center, Elaine’s spirit of fun and service shines through.
