The Middleburg Heights Fire Department had a record year in 2025 in terms of total run numbers. We responded to 4,517 calls, up from 4,047 in 2024. That's just under a 12% increase.

I am looking to update our annual run numbers statistics. Please feel free to message me any run data you have, and if you have updated staffing numbers, I will take that also.

Have a safe 2026!

Firefighter Johnny Tetrick, 51 - Engine 22
Cleveland Division of Fire. Cleveland, OH
Firefighter Tetrick was killed after being struck by a vehicle after they responded to a call for a rollover crash on I-90 East near Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. The vehicle did not stop and fled the scene. Firefighter Tetrick was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Hours later the vehicle and driver were located and was arrested. Firefighter Tetrick served the department for over 27 years, most of that time he spent assigned to Engine 22.

The Cincinnati Fire Department responds to approximately 1,600 "lift assist" calls annually from institutional facilities.

A new motion would charge nursing homes and long-term care facilities up to $1,000 each time they call the fire department for non-emergency lifts.

Council member Mark Jeffreys, who is proposing the fee structure, said the practice unfairly shifts costs to taxpayers.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the nine brave Charleston firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty during the tragic Super Sofa Store fire on June 18, 2007. Their courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten.

As we reflect on this solemn anniversary, may we carry forward their legacy with pride and gratitude, always remembering the cost of service and the strength of our fire service family. Let us never forget their names, their heroism, and the profound impact they left on our community.❤️
