The Walkers Creek Fire-EMS was organized in 1980 by a group of volunteers in the community that saw a need for a fire department in the area between Middlebrook, Raphine and Rockbridge Baths. The department has grown from a 1954 Ford/John Beam that was purchased with proceeds from an Irvin Rosen Handcrafted Clock fundraiser from the Middlebrook Fire Company for $3000. To a fleet of two engines, a
tanker/tender, a Quick Response BLS unit, an initial attack engine and a wildland ATV. Walkers Creek Fire-EMS provides Emergency Services to the communities of Zack, Newport, Walkers Creek, Jump Mountain, McKinley and parts of Brownsburg in both Rockbridge and Augusta Counties. To around 3,000 people in our 28 square mile first due area. We also provide automatic and mutual aid to our neighboring fire departments to include Middlebrook, Rockbridge Baths, Raphine, Riverheads, Augusta County Fire-Rescue and South River. Walkers Creek's ISO Rating is a Class 9.
