Roughly 1 in 4 people experiencing homelessness in America is a family with children. The picture of homelessness in America is changing, and the limited Netflix series Maid shows us firsthand what it looks like to be an unhoused family today.

The ingrained image of an unhoused man on a bench in an urban setting is no longer exclusively what homelessness looks like; it never was. Yet this is what the media portrayed. Today we take a deep dive into this incredible series based on the true story of a woman, a mother, a survivor.
