United Way of La Porte County

United Way of La Porte County United Way of La Porte County improves the lives of the people of La Porte County by mobilizing the caring power of our community.

Since 1957, United Way of La Porte County has mobilized the caring power of our local community to bring supports and services to La Porte County that help everyone thrive. The local dollars we raise here, stay here. And we leverage the power of the worldwide United Way network to bring more and new resources to La Porte County every day. We collaboratively work with local partners to improve the health and well-being of everyone in La Porte County, to help young people realize their full potential, to build pathways to financial stability and strength, and to address urgent needs today for a better tomorrow. No other organization in La Porte County can fundraise for, activate, and mobilize the resources our community needs for quick action and lasting impact like United Way can. Because we are better together. And we stand United for La Porte County.

Introducing The Supply Spot!

Something new is making a difference for students at Kesling Intermediate & La Porte Middle School.

Through Family Advocates Slicer Champions school-based mentoring program, we’re excited to introduce The Supply Spot, a resource where all students can access essential personal care items they may need during the school day.

Because sometimes having the right supplies can make all the difference in a student’s day.

We are incredibly grateful to The Presbyterian Church of La Porte for helping make The Supply Spot possible through their generous donation of personal care items. Your support is helping us make sure students have access to the things they need, when they need them.

And we’d love our community’s help keeping The Supply Spot stocked!

We’ve created an Amazon Wishlist with items that are currently needed. If you’d like to help, you can shop directly from the list and have your donation sent to Family Advocates.

👉 Shop The Supply Spot Wishlist:https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/WDCGE5T2IU5J?ref_=wl_share

Every donation, big or small, helps us support students right where they are.

Family Advocates has posted an Urgent Need for Male Mentors at the Kesling Campus. These students don't need someone to fix their problems. They just need someone who will show up, listen, believe in them, and remind them that they matter. YOU can be the one!

Urgent Need for Male Mentors at the Kesling Campus.

These students have been waiting, some for months, some for more than a year, for someone to step into their corner. At this point it is an urgent need for each of them, they don't need someone to fix their problems. They need someone who will show up, listen, believe in them, and remind them that they matter. The opportunity to make a difference is here. These kids are waiting... please consider mentoring!

6th Grade Male Student
This soft-spoken 6th grader has a big imagination and big dreams. He loves computer gaming and technology and hopes to one day become a K9 police officer. He may be quiet at first, but with patience and encouragement, he has so much potential to shine. He would benefit from a caring male mentor who can help him build confidence, navigate emotions, and discover his voice.

7th Grade Male Student
This shy but silly 7th grader has a wonderful sense of humor that comes alive once he feels comfortable. He loves video games and all things art and creativity. He would benefit from a positive male role model who can earn his trust, encourage him to step outside his comfort zone, and remind him that his future is worth investing in.

7th Grade Male Student
This kind, quiet, always-smiling 7th grader is someone you can't help but root for. He loves basketball, video games, and all things sour candy. He is genuinely looking forward to having a mentor, someone he can talk to, laugh with, and count on. He would benefit tremendously from another caring adult in his corner.

8th Grade Male Student
This funny, focused 8th grader has a unique personality and a great sense of humor. He enjoys gaming, spending time with friends, and living life to the fullest. He has been making positive choices and working hard toward a brighter future. He would benefit from a mentor who can appreciate his personality, challenge him to keep growing, and remind him that his choices today matter.

8th Grade Male Student
This quiet 8th grader enjoys video games and has a laid-back personality. He may take some time to open up, but sometimes the students who are hardest to reach are the ones who need someone to keep showing up. He would benefit from a patient, consistent male mentor willing to build trust one conversation, and one day, at a time.

8th Grade Male Student
This quiet and kind student loves being outdoors, playing football, and spending time with friends. He also enjoys UNO and Jenga. He would benefit from a positive male role model who can encourage him, help him see his potential, and remind him that someone believes in him. Sometimes a little encouragement from the right person can make a bigger difference than we realize.

Our President & CEO Kris Pate announced today that the UNITED WE FEED: Disaster Food Relief Fund that was created in response to August’s devastating storms will continue as the UNITED WE STAND: General Disaster Fund beginning Monday, September 7, 2026.

When the storms hit, our small but mighty team sprang into action alongside our many vital partners, helping local agencies and friends across the county address urgent needs for our community. Food aid was one of the greatest needs initially identified, and we rose to the challenge quickly, connecting people, providers, and resources.

At United Way of La Porte County, we’re always striving to improve. The recent storms reminded us that when disaster strikes, every second counts. This new General Disaster Fund will help your local United Way stand ready for our community with greater support and faster response times to provide food and basic needs during an emergency.

This work is possible because of YOU, our community. Thank you to everyone who gave to the UNITED WE FEED: Disaster Food Relief Fund and a very special thank you to 1st Source Bank for leading the way with the first major gift to the UNITED WE STAND: General Disaster Fund.

Remember, the money we raise for La Porte County, STAYS in La Porte County! You can learn more and give securely online any time at unitedwaylpc.org.
