Five years ago today, the Champlain Towers South tragedy forever changed the Town of Surfside, Miami-Dade County, and our entire community.

Today, we pause to remember the 98 lives lost, honor their families, and reflect on the profound impact this tragedy continues to have on so many.

We also recognize the extraordinary courage, compassion, and dedication of the first responders, search and rescue teams, medical personnel, volunteers, and countless others who worked around the clock under unimaginable circumstances. Their selfless service embodied the very best of our community.

As we mark this solemn anniversary, may we continue to keep the victims and their loved ones in our prayers, honor the heroes who answered the call, and ensure that those we lost are never forgotten.

Forever remembered. Forever honored.

The SOE team was pleased to participate in the 2026 Equal Ground Legislative Debrief conversation at the Second Baptist Church in Richmond Heights, where it joined many other important organizations, while providing critical voter services, sharing important reminders, and answering questions. With the August 18 Primary Election around the corner, the forum provided a wonderful platform to engage with voters and prospective voters.
