"On behalf of the Business Committee,

If you or anyone you know is affected by the newly published route of the AEP transmission lines, please reach out to the Business Committee (email addresses below) . No route has been finalized, but this is the latest proposed route the transmission lines will be using. We have met with the AEP planning commission. We are currently opposed to any new transmission line through our area. Our EPA and Cultural Dept are looking in to any historical complications and environmental concerns. They also were present for the meeting and have been asked by the BC to ensure our tribal concerns are addressed. The proposed route is on our southern boundary with the Wyandotte Tribe and crosses roughly three miles on our reservation area.

The Knot Alone Makers Circle will be a community crafting and cultural sharing group hosted by the Adawe Tribal Cultural Center, and will bring tribal members together twice each month for creativity, learning, and fellowship.

The group will meet one Friday evening and one Saturday morning each month in a welcoming space where participants can work alongside one another, share knowledge, and support each other’s projects and skills.

Participants are encouraged to bring any cultural arts projects they are currently working on, whether it is beadwork, regalia, moccasins, dance shawls, quilting, repairs, etc.

Those wanting to learn a new skill or begin a new project are also welcome, and group members are encouraged to help teach, guide, and encourage one another in a spirit of community and shared learning.

The Adawe Cultural Center will provide the meeting space along with a limited number of sewing machines, scissors, and basic shared tools.

Participants are responsible for bringing their own project materials and supplies, such as beads, fabric, thread, buckskin, ribbon, patterns, and any other specialty items needed for their work.

A big day for the Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma!

The 2026 Tar Creek Apprenticeship Program (TCAP) officially launched on the morning of June 1, 2026, bringing together Chief Cody Hollenbeck, the Ottawa Environmental Department staff, and this year’s outstanding group of Ottawa apprentices — Annabel Werner, Deringer Hollenbeck, Re*****on Sala, Aiden Coulter, and Hallie Todd.

From the blessing ceremony to Wyandotte Nation Second Chief Norman Hildebrand’s keynote to the first shared meal, the day set a powerful tone for learning, cultural grounding, and meaningful hands-on restoration work at Tar Creek.

Our Ottawa apprentices are stepping into this program with purpose, and we’re honored to support their journey.
