We are looking forward to attending this exciting event in Kiihkayonki later this summer!

We’re excited to announce that the Myaamia Heritage Foundation has received a grant from the Indiana Arts Commission to support the Myaamia Cultural Festival on August 29!

This funding will help support Myaamia artist demonstrations at the festival, including fingerweaving. Festival attendees will have the opportunity to learn about this art form and create their own fingerwoven keychain!

Thank you for supporting Myaamia arts revitalization and helping us share Myaamia culture with the community. We look forward to seeing everyone at the festival!

Exciting Announcement! 📣 NOW OPEN at MHMA 📣 'OHI:YO' : We're Still Here' is a small art exhibition on loan to us from the Great Circle Alliance, an independent non-profit organization committed to telling the Indigenous stories of the Ohio River Valley and the Newark Earthworks. The exhibition features three artists who are citizens of tribes removed from Ohio -- Travis Mammedaty (Seneca-Cayuga), Holli Mangell (Eastern Shawnee) and Dani Tippmann (Miami). The exhibit will be open until September 30, 2026.

This exciting conversation among representatives from the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma will foreground why archives and ongoing relationships with archival institutions, like the Newberry, are essential to Native nations' cultural revitalization efforts. Starting with discussion about what defines cultural revitalization and why it's important, Nate Poyfair, Jared Nally, and Morgan Lippert will then share their perspectives on various Myaamia revitalization projects, including those focused on language, written and oral histories, and textiles, as well the establishment of the Myaamia Heritage Museum and Archive.
