Yesterday, Laura Naredo, CEO and Nivia Dexter, VP of Data Performance and IT attended the Data Interoperability & Payment Model Reform Demonstration Project meeting. The vision for Miami-Dade County is to develop a new behavioral health operating model that integrates data, care delivery, and financing to enable continuous, longitudinal measurement of outcomes and drive accountability, improve care, and inform system-wide transformation. Meet our Network Provider - Federation of Families, Miami-Dade Chapter

At Federation of Families (FOF), our mission is to empower, guide, and support youth and families by equipping them with the skills and resources needed to become strong advocates for their own needs and wellbeing. Through compassionate, community-based services, we promote recovery, resilience, and overall wellness for children, youth, young adults, and families across Miami-Dade County.

In partnership with Thriving Mind, FOF provides monthly evidence-based training and implements the Transition to Independence Process (TIP) Model, which helps young adults increase access to behavioral health services while building independence and stability. Through Futures Planning, the TIP Model focuses on key life domains including employment and career development, education, living situation, community life functioning, and personal effectiveness and wellbeing.

FOF also offers interactive mental health and wellness training for community partners, focused on supporting provider’s wellbeing and equipping staff with practical, evidence-supported practices they can apply in their work and share with the individuals and families they serve. Additional programming includes Triple P Positive Parenting, peer support services for families entering the child welfare system, and the Positive Youth Development Afterschool Program at Palm Springs Middle School. Our mission is to build healthier communities through a youth- and family-driven approach that connects individuals and families to the resources and services they need to succeed in school, at home, and in life.

Their mission, as agents of change, is to help our inmate population with technical proficiencies, education, life skills, and the confidence to rejoin their communities, find jobs, and become productive members of society. This is why MDCR works collaboratively with our community partners to provide the inmate population necessary services. During the breakfast, they highlighted successful partnerships, programs and services that benefit our returning citizens. Their main goal is to inform, educate, and collaborate about re-entry progress and prevention of recidivism. In attendance from our team were Yisel Morell, LMHC, Care Coordination Manager and Milieris Leon, Administrative Assistant- FDOC Grant.

At the 17th Annual Scientific Conference of the International Association of Psychiatric Nurses, Derek Moore, Manager of Thriving Mind Peer Services, was honored with the prestigious Community Impact Champion Award. The global organization, known for its commitment to supporting individuals with mental health challenges and elevating leaders who advance community-based care, recognized Moore for his exceptional dedication to expanding mental health and substance use services throughout Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.

Moore’s leadership in strengthening peer support services and championing the implementation of a Recovery-Oriented System of Care (ROSC) in the region stood out as a model for transformative, community-centered behavioral health work. His tireless efforts have helped broaden access, reduce stigma, and elevate the role of lived experience in the continuum of care.

The ceremony also celebrated fellow honorees Vicki Sevilla, Senior Director of Outpatient & Community Health Services at Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital, and The Honorable Judge Steven Leifman, both recognized for their influential contributions to mental health advocacy and system reform.

Together, the award recipients embody the spirit of innovation, compassion, and leadership that the International Association of Psychiatric Nurses seeks to uplift worldwide.
