At Miami-Dade Parks, we’re proud to celebrate excellence across our parks system! 🌿

We’re honored to recognize this quarter’s outstanding winners whose dedication, leadership, and service continue to make a lasting impact in our community:

🏆 Employee of the Quarter – Cody Teape
From leading the safe evacuation of over 2,000 guests and staff during critical emergencies to stepping up in a supervisor’s absence, Cody demonstrated calm, clear communication and exceptional leadership under pressure. His commitment to inclusiveness and teamwork ensured safety while reducing panic and anxiety.

🏆 Supervisor of the Quarter – Hugo Velasquez
Hugo’s innovative approach to facility design balances beauty, functionality, and cost-efficiency. Through mentorship and forward-thinking solutions, he’s strengthened his team while promoting sustainability, accessibility, and inclusive design across projects.

🏆 Team of the Quarter – Southeast Area Team
This team went above and beyond—enhancing park conditions, supporting over 500 games, and improving efficiency with tools like the Tiny Robot Painter across 30+ fields. Their efforts boosted park usage and revenue while maintaining high service levels despite staffing challenges.

🏆 Volunteer of the Quarter – JQ Foundation
Through impactful service initiatives, JQ Foundation mobilized 279 volunteers across 15 service days—removing debris, planting greenery, and contributing over 581 hours of service. Their dedication continues to strengthen community pride and park stewardship.

As we say goodbye to Earth Month, we would like to thank our community for showing up, giving back, and making a real difference 💚

Together, 290 incredible volunteers dedicated 1,160 service hours, contributing an estimated $38,280 in value to help keep our parks thriving. From removing 570 pounds of marine debris to planting 1,600 dune-friendly plants, your impact is helping restore and protect our coastal ecosystems.

Your time. Your passion. Our parks.
Let’s keep building a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful Miami-Dade—together.
