Last week, we welcomed and to the Alexander Orr Water Treatment Plant for a behind-the-scenes look at where Miami-Dade’s drinking water begins.

With support from our Hydrogeology Technical Services, Resilience and Operations teams, the tour explored the connection between the Everglades, the Biscayne Aquifer, and the work it takes to protect and deliver high-quality water to our community every day.

The Water Shortage Warning for Miami-Dade has officially been lifted. 💧

Recent rainfall, combined with continued conservation efforts across our community, helped restore water levels in the Biscayne Aquifer.

While the warning is no longer in effect, protecting our water supply remains a shared responsibility. Small everyday actions, like skipping irrigation after rainfall, running full loads, and checking for leaks, can still make a meaningful difference.
