On May 30 and 31, the Consulate General of Japan in Miami participated in the 35th Annual Asian Culture Festival, joining community members and organizations from across Miami-Dade County in celebrating the cultures and traditions of Asia.

During the festival, Consul General Nakano joined the Opening Ceremony and participated in the Fireside Chat moderated by Miami-Dade County Mayor Levine Cava alongside the Ambassador of Thailand, the Ambassador of Laos, the Consul General of Bangladesh, and other distinguished representatives from across Asia.

At the Consulate's booth, volunteers from the FIU Japan Club introduced visitors to Japanese culture through activities such as Japanese calligraphy, where guests had their names written in Japanese characters, as well as traditional games including wanage (ring toss) and kendama. Many visitors stopped by throughout the weekend to learn more about Japan and experience these cultural activities firsthand.

The festival also featured performances by Fushu Daiko , whose energetic taiko drumming drew enthusiastic crowds. Fushu Daiko and volunteers from the Miami Friends of Japanese Garden also joined together to perform Bon Odori, a traditional Japanese festival dance. Audience members were then invited to join the dance, making it one of the highlights of the festival.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Thai-American Association of Florida and the Miami-Dade County Asian-American Advisory Board for organizing this wonderful event. We appreciate the opportunity to share Japanese culture with the community and look forward to future collaborations that celebrate the rich cultures and traditions of Asia.
