On June 2, at approximately 11:20 a.m., Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to reports of a residential structure fire near the 1800 block and Southwest 82nd Court.

Crews found a working fire with heavy smoke and flames visible from the rear-right corner of a one-story single-family residence. Firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack, conducted a primary search, and secured utilities. The main body of the fire was located in the patio area.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and ventilate the home. All occupants were out of the home prior to firefighters’ arrival, and there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Today, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Tanker 71 officially transferred operations to Temporary Fire Station 71.

Located at 15430 Southwest 184th Street, Temporary Fire Station 71 has been designed as a durable, long-term solution that allows to expand services in growing areas while permanent stations are planned and constructed.

Built to meet the demands of a modern fire station, the facility includes many of the essential features of a permanent station on a smaller scale, providing a safe and efficient workspace for personnel.

Tanker 71 will respond to emergencies in the Redland area and surrounding communities.

The entire Miami-Dade Fire Rescue family extends heartfelt congratulations to Firefighter Alvaro Munoz on the occasion of his retirement following a distinguished 30-year career serving the citizens of Miami-Dade County. A proud member of Recruit Class 77, Alvaro worked his final tour Friday at Station 15 on Key Biscayne, driving Rescue 15 one final time. Throughout three decades of dedicated service, Firefighter Munoz, a United States Navy veteran, exemplified professionalism, commitment and brotherhood, earning the respect and admiration of the many firefighters and officers who had the honor to work alongside him. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue wishes Alvaro and his family a long, healthy and well-deserved retirement.

Yesterday, the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Community Affairs team held a fire truck demonstration at New Opportunity Educational Center. Students had the opportunity to explore a fire truck up close, try on firefighting gear, and use a hose while learning important fire safety tips. The team also shared essential safety information, including the importance of having working smoke alarms and knowing two ways out of every room in case of a fire.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was among nearly a dozen first responder agencies that took part in a simulated chemical attack exercise at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday morning. The hazardous materials drill, coordinated by the South Florida Emergency Planning Committee, was designed to ensure hazardous materials technicians can safely isolate hazardous chemicals, mitigate threats and conduct large-scale decontamination operations for both responders and victims. MDFR’s Hazardous Materials Bureau played a leading role in the exercise, evacuating victims from the simulated attack scene while working alongside regional partners to strengthen preparedness for real-world hazardous materials incidents.

The junkyard fire near the 13100 block of Cairo Lane is now .

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue remains on scene, extinguishing lingering hot spots and monitoring conditions.

Smoke in the area has significantly decreased, and Northwest 135th Street has reopened in both directions.
