United Badges of Honor

United Badges of Honor Supporting & Assisting every men and women who serve and protect during catastrophic off-duty injurie Out of the ordinary- often the extraordinary is born!

In movies and comic books, heroes are portrayed as larger-than-life, having super powers and flashy costumes. But here in the real world, heroes are our fire fighters, police officers, EMTs and military personnel who risk their lives on a daily basis to keep their communities safe. Everyone has a hero in his or her life- someone who has done astonishing things like the hundreds of thousands of men

and women who have sacrificed or compromised their lives in the line of duty or in the 9/11 attacks. All of these individuals are heroes and should be honored for their selfless commitment to serving our country and communities. Since the events of 9/11, over a million U.S. service members have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, in the war against terrorism. Currently the U.S. has nearly 140,000 troops still deployed. The DOD estimates that 360,000 returning service members suffer from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and over 31,000 have sustained other serious injuries. In addition to these injuries many will suffer with anger management, depression & substance abuse issues. For many of our military personnel, not only do they make selfless sacrifice to defend our country, but many of these individuals return home to serve as police officers, firefighters or other first responders. As these men and women in uniform continue their efforts to keep us safe, it is crucial that ALL Badges unite together and help our very own brothers and sisters in need. Every day we are blessed to live in a free land where someone is always looking out for our safety. Peace and freedom are something we don’t have to worry about because it has already been fought for and earned by our armed forces at home and abroad. The men and women who work long hours in order to ensure our safety on a daily basis have earned the respect of a grateful nation. Miami’s United Badges of Honor’s goal is to unite, honor and help the men and women in uniform that seek or require assistance with in-line duty injuries; with our focus being on reducing stress and suicide amongst our veterans, military and first responder personnel, by bringing ALL Badges; Police, Fire, EMS, FBI, ATF, CBP, USCG and Military Together. Our objective is to inspire and mobilize the military and first responder community to do our part to help our brothers and sisters that risk their lives daily for our freedom. We seek to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of the US Military and First Responder communities and provide volunteer opportunities for American’s to express their appreciation to all who serve our Nation and Communities. Miami’s United Badges of Honor is dedicated to supporting the physical, mental and spiritual wellness of our Nation’s Heroes. We believe with all our hearts that by giving them the respect and honor rightfully due them we will be able to give them the hope of a promising future. In doing this we will ensure that all who have worn the “Uniform” will be an instant reminder to all Americans that a Hero stands before us… one of courage, strength and love for their country and whether their injuries are visible or not…. We will never forget… all gave some and some gave all!!! Join us and help us help those who protect us daily- Our Heroes!

🇺🇸 Honoring the Land We Love and Those Who Defend It 🇺🇸

“She flies with freedom in her wings, and courage in her soul.” 🇺🇸
Today, we don’t just celebrate a date — it isn’t about fireworks and BBQ’s — it’s about celebrating the freedom we’re blessed with and honoring the brave men and women who protect it.
We celebrate the spirit of a nation,
Built on sacrifice, carried by courage,
And defended by the brave.
To every soldier, veteran, and military family — thank you for your sacrifice, your courage, and your unwavering service. To OUR heroes in uniform — past and present — You are the heart of our stars and stripes. America, may we always rise to honor you. May we never take for granted the red, white, and blue.
Happy Independence Day. 🗽✨

Two firefighters murdered. One critically wounded. All answered the call.

Battalion Chief John Morrison and Battalion Chief Frank Harwood showed up like we all do — without hesitation, without question, and with a heart to serve. That call in Idaho should’ve been routine. Instead, it turned into a tragedy that rocked the entire fire service and nation.

Engineer Dave Tysdal is still fighting to recover from his injuries. And every firefighter across this country is feeling this loss deep in our bones.

“When a man becomes a firefighter, his greatest act of bravery has been accomplished. What he does after that is all in the line of work.” – Chief Edward Croker

But no one signs up to be ambushed. We train for fire, not bullets. For rescues, not warfare. For service, not sacrifice like this.

We are a brotherhood and sisterhood bound by grit, sacrifice, and purpose. When one of us falls, we all feel it. And we stand back up, together.

🚒🖤 To John and Frank — rest easy, brothers.
🚑❤️ To Dave — we’re with you through every step of your recovery.
👨‍🚒👩‍🚒 To every firefighter still putting on the gear — you’re not alone. We’ve got your six.

🪖🇺🇸 250 years of steel resolve.
250 years of warriors forged in discipline, sacrifice, and grit. The U.S. Army doesn’t just protect our freedom—it defines what it means to fight for something greater than yourself. This isn’t just a birthday.
It’s a salute to a legacy that shaped a nation. To every soldier who has worn the uniform with honor—past, present, and future—thank you.
Happy 250th to the United States Army—where honor is earned and heroes are made. 🇺🇸🪖🌟

Remembering & Honoring a Legend: Captain Bill Gustin

The fire service has lost a legend, but his impact will never fade. Today, we pay tribute to a true icon in the fire service, Captain Bill Gustin. A firefighter’s firefighter, a mentor to thousands, and a wealth of knowledge that has shaped generations of fire service professionals. His passion, humility, and commitment to the craft were unmatched.

Captain Gustin didn’t just teach tactics—he embodied them. His dedication to training, his relentless pursuit of excellence, and his ability to break down complex fireground concepts made him one of the most respected voices in the industry.

Though he may be gone, his lessons, his leadership, and his legacy will live on in every firefighter who had the privilege to learn from him. In the halls of every firehouse, on the fireground, and in the hearts of those he inspired, his memory will live on.

Rest easy, Cap. We’ll take it from here.
