We join the Carricarte family and the South Florida community in mourning the passing of Michael “Mike” Carricarte (1941–2026).

A proud Army veteran, successful entrepreneur, and respected community leader, Mike dedicated his life to service—first to his country, then to the countless individuals and organizations he supported throughout our community. His leadership, generosity, and commitment to helping others leave a lasting legacy that will be remembered for generations.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.

The 11th Annual Hemispheric Security Conference at FIU convened distinguished leaders and experts for important conversations on security, diplomacy, and the future of our hemisphere.

It was especially meaningful to see Community leaders in Miami contributing to these international discussions. And of course we are so honored and proud that Miami-Dade leaders Amb. Kevin Marino Cabrera and Amb. Bernie Navarro are representing the United States abroad with vision, excellence, and integrity. 🇺🇸🌎

A historic takeoff and a long-awaited reunion. ✈️🇺🇸🇻🇪

Today marked the official launch and ribbon cutting of American Airlines’ first nonstop flight from Miami to Caracas, restoring direct commercial service between the United States and Venezuela for the first time in seven years. This milestone route reconnects families, strengthens commerce, and reopens a vital bridge between our communities.

The launch brought together leaders from across every level of government and industry, including the U.S. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Department of State, American Airlines leadership, and County, State, and Federal officials to commemorate this significant moment in international travel and diplomacy.
