♻️ Turning technology upgrades into a sustainability win at the Miami Beach Convention Center!
As part of ongoing technology upgrades throughout the facility, the MBCC and Encore worked with E-Scrap USA to responsibly recycle electronic equipment removed during the project, creating an opportunity to reduce waste while avoiding significant disposal costs.
The impact:
♻️ More than 3,000 pounds of e-waste diverted from local landfills
🖥️ Approximately 80 monitors recycled, along with additional electronic equipment, components, and accessories
📦 8 pallets and 1 Ga***rd container collected for responsible recycling
🚛 All materials collected and recycled at no cost
This effort was made possible through collaboration across our teams. A special thank you to Daniela Marcos, Customer Service Manager at E-Scrap USA, for coordinating the pickup and ensuring the materials were responsibly recycled. We also recognize Rose Norton, Public Safety & Transportation Coordinator, for helping lead the project and coordinating pickup logistics and vendor access alongside the MBCC Public Safety team; Greg Rowan and the Encore team for coordinating the collection and staging of the equipment; and Zoie Tirona, Marketing & Sustainability Coordinator, for supporting the project’s sustainability efforts and helping expand e-waste recycling at the convention center.
E-waste recycling is one of the many ways the MBCC is working to reduce the environmental impact of our facility and events. From waste diversion, recycling, composting and material donations to energy and water conservation, we continue to identify practical opportunities to reduce waste, conserve resources, and improve our operations.
This project demonstrates how collaboration and thoughtful planning can turn a facility upgrade into measurable environmental and financial impact. 🌱
