In July 1970, Ed and Barb Lighthall opened Flatrock Campground in Mexico, NY, creating a place where generations of families made lasting memories. Over time, they brought the Jellystone Park franchise to Flatrock, welcoming the beloved characters Yogi Bear, Boo Boo, Cindy, and Ranger Smith to the camping experience.
Upon their retirement in 2015, Ed and Barb entrusted the campground to Bob and Marion Palmer. This morning, the Palmers honored the Lighthalls’ vision with the donation of a park bench. Joining Barb in celebration were many members of her family and representatives from the Greater Mexico Chamber of Commerce.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ed and Barb for their dedication, vision, and the countless memories they helped create; to the Palmers for their thoughtful donation; and to Mark Ji, the current owner, for placing the bench at the park’s entrance.

The Mexico Museum on South Jefferson St is getting ready to open for the spring and summer. We need your input about when to open. We can’t be there every day but will listen to your feedback.
