It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of former Mayor and longtime resident, Al Cathey.
Mayor Cathey was truly the heart and soul of our community. Through some of the darkest times Mexico Beach has ever faced, his leadership, strength, and unwavering commitment helped guide us forward. His dedication and resilience remain an enduring inspiration, reminding us all that with hard work and determination, any obstacle can be overcome.
We are deeply grateful for the foundation he built and the vision he set for our beloved fishing village. Because of his efforts, we are able to continue moving forward with purpose and pride.
Thank you, Mayor Cathey, for your service, your leadership, and your love for this community.
Rest easy, our friend. We will honor your legacy and continue to “Guard the Gates.”
