Today we want to recognize one of our own — a man who has given 30 years of unwavering service to the City of Mexia and the Mexia Fire Department.

For three decades, Michael Clements has answered calls in the middle of the night, stood shoulder to shoulder with his brothers and sisters during difficult moments, and dedicated his life to protecting this community. He has seen people on some of their worst days and has always shown up with courage, compassion, and strength. That kind of service leaves a legacy that cannot be measured.

Now, he faces a battle of his own. As he fights through serious heart issues, including heart valve replacement surgery and the pain that comes with recovery, we want him to know he is not fighting alone. The same strength he has poured into others for 30 years is now being poured right back into him through the prayers, love, and support of his family, friends, coworkers, and community.

Firefighters are wired to be the helpers — the ones who run toward the emergency when others run away. But even the strongest among us need support sometimes. This is one of those moments where we rally around one of our own.

Your fire family is standing beside you every step of the way. We know this road hasn’t been easy, but if anyone is built to overcome adversity, it’s you. Your resilience has inspired generations of firefighters, and your story is far from over.

Keep fighting. Keep believing. Keep pushing forward. There are still more memories to make, more laughs to share, and more victories ahead.

Mexia is stronger because of your service. Your fire family is stronger because of your leadership. And this community is praying for your healing. Please join us in congratulating Joe Mann on his well-earned promotion from Firefighter to Lieutenant.

Throughout his time with the department, Joe has consistently demonstrated the dedication, professionalism, and drive for excellence that define our mission. His commitment to growth and leadership has not gone unnoticed and continues to set the standard for those around him.

Just a few short months ago, Joe also successfully completed and passed his National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Advanced certification; another testament to his work ethic and determination to better serve his community.

Joe, keep aiming high. You’ve got a family at home and a fire department family standing beside you every step of the way!

Congratulations, Lieutenant. You’ve earned it!!!

Thinking about burning that brush pile? Before you grab the diesel and a lighter… read this 👇

This isn’t a lecture—just helping keep you out of the hot seat 😄

⚠️ Texas law is strict on outdoor burning
Whether you’re in the city or county, there are clear rules on what you can and cannot burn. Please refer to the guide below to📄 Know the law:
https://www.tceq.texas.gov/downloads/publications/rg/outdoor-burning-in-texas-rg-49.pdf

🚫 You CANNOT burn items like:
• Plastics (of any kind)
• Furniture & mattresses
• Tires
• Treated lumber / construction debris
• Shingles, insulation, or demolition materials

👉 Burning prohibited materials can lead to serious charges—even felonies
👉 Moving materials just to burn them? That can make penalties worse.

💨 Even if it’s legal to burn…
If smoke or flames become a nuisance to neighbors, you may still be required to put it out.

✅ Be smart
✅ Be safe
✅ Be a good neighbor

🎄💚 THE 12 DAYS OF GRINCHMAS — A HEART CHANGED 💚🎄

What started as a mischievous Grinch on the loose ended in something far greater than we ever imagined.

Over the past 12 Days of Grinchmas, the Grinch traveled all across Mexia and Limestone County—meeting families, partnering with local businesses, and witnessing firsthand the kindness, generosity, and heart of this community. Day after day, the people of this town showed up with smiles, laughter, and a willingness to give.

And somewhere along the way… the Grinch’s heart changed.

It wasn’t the toys alone that did it.
It was the volunteers who gave their time.
The first responders who served with joy.
The businesses who opened their doors.
The citizens and residents who gave generously to make sure children in our community felt loved this Christmas.

Because of YOU, Christmas morning was filled with hope, laughter, and full hearts. The Grinch learned what we already know—Mexia and Limestone County are rich in compassion, faith, and community spirit.

Thank you to everyone who donated, participated, volunteered, and supported the 12 Days of Grinchmas. You didn’t just help save Christmas… you reminded us all what it truly means.

From a once-grumpy Grinch to a grateful heart—
Merry Christmas, Mexia & Limestone County. 🎄💚

🎄 The final one… Day 12 of the “12 Days of Grinchmas” 🎄

Riddle #12:

Shhh… be quiet, use your best indoor voice,

This hiding spot is where stories rejoice.

Imagination and adventures take flight,
From morning till afternoon, maybe late night.

If you’re searching for knowledge, a tale, or a clue,
This Grinch is hiding where potential knowledge outnumbers you!

Look between shelves where imaginations run free, Find the Grinch tucked away where silence likes to be...

12 Days of Grinchmas - Riddle #11

I've slipped away from Christmas glee, To hide where spice keeps spirits free.
A cozy spot with festive heat,
Where hot plates and laughter meet.
In a small-town nook of merry cheer, I've found a refuge for the year.
Among warm smells that dance and twirl,
1 plot against each Who and girl.
Seek where bright colors deck the scene, And holiday red meets jalapeño green — There you may catch my sneaky thrill, Lounging low with a Grinchy chill.

Team up with your child and be the first to find the Grinch!! Take a photo with him, post the photo here, and call (254) 495-5875 to redeem your prize!!
