It's National Prevention Week and today's focus is Prescription Drug and Opioid Misuse. Massac County Sheriff's Deputy Summer Dixon and Sheriff Chad Kaylor, along with the rest of the department, are working to prevent prescription drug misuse by providing the P2D2 Drug Dropbox in the Sheriff's Department Lobby, along with offering the Deterra Drug Disposal bags and the Points Drop needle/syringe drop box. By getting rid of old medications, you prevent them from getting into the wrong hands.

We would like to welcome Mark Hunter as our new Assistant State's Attorney. Mark has extensive experience in criminal law and served as Massac County State's Attorney from 1984 until 1992. Mark is married to Thelma Hunter and resides in Metropolis. Mark will be a great addition to the Massac County State's Attorney's Office and we look forward to working with him.
