It has been an honor to work alongside our dedicated Donate Life Louisiana partners, athletes & supporters to help Team Louisiana get to the Transplant Games of America since the 2014 Games in Houston. Watching lives be celebrated & stories be shared never gets old.

💚 Sponsor Spotlight 💚

As Team Louisiana prepares to represent Louisiana at the Transplant Games of America, we are incredibly grateful for the Legacy Donor Foundation & Donate Life Louisiana. Their vision, leadership and dedication have helped Team Louisiana grow, increase awareness and inspire donor registrations across our state.

Through their support, transplant recipients, living donors, donor families and supporters will come together in Denver in a few days to celebrate life, honor donor heroes and share the powerful impact of donation. Thank you for helping make this journey possible!

“This journey has given me a deeper appreciation for life, for time, and for every moment I get to spend with my family.” 💙💚

During her junior year of college, Shayla was diagnosed with heart disease. Despite the challenges, she continued building the life she dreamed of, including becoming a mother. After her son was born prematurely at 28 weeks, Shayla went into end-stage heart failure and was placed on the transplant waiting list.

In August 2025, Shayla received the gift of a donor heart, giving her a second chance at life and more precious time with her son and family. Today, she is 9 months post-transplant and celebrating her first Mother’s Day with renewed hope and gratitude.

This Mother’s Day, we honor mothers like Shayla, as well as the donors and donor families who make stories like hers possible.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we are honored to celebrate Shay Stackler, a teacher at Metairie Park Country Day School and a passionate advocate for organ donation through our Operation Donation program.

Shay’s connection to our mission began when several family members needed transplants. She then became a dedicated volunteer and a teacher advisor, helping educate and inspire students about the power of donation and transplantation.
Now, Shay’s own story has come full circle, and she is preparing to receive a kidney from her brother in the coming weeks, a beautiful reminder of how life-changing the gift of donation truly is!

As we celebrate Shay and all educators this week, we also honor the thousands still waiting for their second chance and the incredible donors who make renewed health, hope & quality of life possible.
