🔋🔥 Charge into Fire Safety—Safe Charging Is a Superpower!

It’s Fire Prevention Week, October 4–10! This week is dedicated to teaching families how to prevent fires and stay safe—and this year’s focus is safely charging rechargeable devices.

Mesquite Fire Rescue’s Fire Prevention Team, including our fire safety clowns Nozzles, Moustachio, and Auggie, is visiting local schools to bring these lessons to life! Through fun, interactive activities, kids are learning how to properly charge devices, why batteries can overheat, and how safe habits can protect their families.

Keep those lessons going at home:
âś… Use manufacturer-approved chargers.
✅ Charge on hard, flat surfaces—not beds, pillows, or couches.
âś… Unplug devices when fully charged.
âś… Tell an adult if a device gets unusually hot, swells, smells strange, or makes unusual sounds.

Thank you to the Mesquite Veterans Center for inviting us to participate in today’s Flag Retirement Ceremony. A Flag Retirement Ceremony is a solemn and respectful tradition that provides for the proper retirement of worn, torn, or faded American flags in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code.

Tomorrow, our community will come together to remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the sacrifices made on September 11, 2001.

Mesquite Fire Rescue and the Mesquite Police Department invite the public to join us for a special 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.

Leave your mark on something that will stand for generations.

Mesquite Fire Rescue is proud to bring “The Next Generation” to Fire Station 2 — a bronze statue that represents service, trust, and the special connection between our firefighters and the community we serve.

Families, businesses, organizations, and individuals have the opportunity to become a permanent part of this project by placing an engraved brick or limestone piece around the statue.

This is more than a fundraiser — it’s a chance to help create a lasting piece of Mesquite’s story and a place our community can be proud of for years to come.

Last night, Mesquite Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at the Bluffs Apartments.

When crews arrived, they found an active apartment fire and immediately went to work searching the unit and containing the fire.

Tragically, one adult female and two cats were found deceased inside the apartment.

Thanks to the quick work of our crews, the fire was contained to one unit and did not extend into the other 11 apartments in the building.

Our hearts go out to the family, friends, neighbors, and everyone impacted by this loss.

The Nevada State Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the investigation into the cause of the fire.

We are extremely proud of the professionalism and hard work shown by our firefighters during a very difficult incident.

Today, Mesquite Fire Rescue had the privilege of welcoming U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen to our department.

We appreciated the opportunity to sit down with Senator Rosen, Mayor Jesse Whipple, and our City Manager Becca Schrupp to share some of the challenges facing fire and EMS in our community, and also highlight the many great things happening right here in Mesquite.

Visits like this matter. Having Nevada’s leaders take the time to listen directly to the men and women serving their communities helps ensure that the needs of first responders—and the communities we protect—are heard.

Thank you, Senator Rosen, for spending time with Mesquite Fire Rescue, listening to our crews, and learning more about what makes serving the City of Mesquite so special. 🇺🇸🚒
