Rotary Club of Mesquite Nevada

09/23/2026

Yesterday, members of the Mesquite Rotary Club had the honor of attending the Southern Nevada SOAR Awards, alongside Mesquite Mayor Whipple and City Manager Becca Schrupp, to celebrate members of our own community who were recognized for their outstanding service.

Congratulations to the honorees from the Mesquite Police Department:
👏 Officer Esteban Andrade
👏 Officer Alejandro Cuellar
👏 Officer Walton Dalton
👏 Manager Joe Macias
👏 Officer Silvano Melchor

And from Mesquite Fire & Rescue:
👏 Carmela Patai
👏 Vicente Pinto
👏 Austin Workman
👏 Norm Nielson

Their dedication to serving and protecting our community is a wonderful example of Service Above Self in action. We are grateful for all they do for Mesquite and proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition.

We look forward to celebrating these outstanding members of our community again when they are recognized at the Mesquite City Council meeting on October 27!

Congratulations to all of our honorees! ❤️💙

🚨👀 MESQUITE, BEFORE YOU HEAR IT FROM “SOMEONE WHO KNOWS SOMEONE”… 😂

We’re not saying the rumor mill is fast around here…

…but we are saying you probably shouldn’t let the dirt moving behind Virgin River Casino & Lodge become the next big mystery. 😉

So no, it’s not a Trader Joe’s.
No, it’s not a Costco.
No, it’s not a water park. 😂

So, here’s the scoop:
🏐💦 IT’S MUDD VOLLEYBALL! 💦🏐

NRC (Nevada Residential Construction) will be moving some dirt and getting to work on the NEW home of the Rotary Mudd Volleyball Tournament!

The space behind Virgin River Lodge & Casino will be transformed into six dedicated mud volleyball pits, creating a new home for our annual fundraiser for the next several years.

Get ready for a whole lot of mud, volleyball, and questionable athletic decisions. 😂

We’re incredibly grateful to NRC for making this happen and to Virgin River Lodge & Casino for hosting us for this long-standing Mesquite tradition.

Stay tuned - we’ll be sharing the transformation as it happens!

Now you know. Feel free to update the rumor mill accordingly. 😉

💙 This week at Rotary, we’re having an important conversation.

We’re pleased to welcome Linda Rino from PACT Coalition to speak about su***de prevention and how we can better support those in our community who may be struggling.

We will be learning about:
• Recognizing warning signs and common risk factors
• How to respond when someone may be struggling
• Questions we can ask when we’re concerned about someone
• The importance of follow-up and continued support
• Prevention resources and ways to help

These conversations aren’t always easy, but knowing what to look for, what to say, and where to turn for help can make a meaningful difference.

Join us as we learn how each of us can be more aware, more prepared, and more willing to reach out when someone needs support. 💙

Supporting the youth brings us joy! It is a core value threaded through many of our community initiatives. We can't wait to see what the year holds for the Interact Club!

Building tomorrow’s community leaders today! 🤝✨
A huge thank you to Christie Neff and Debb Parsley from the Mesquite Rotary Club for coming to campus today to train over 30 of our incredible VVHS students!
These students have signed up for Interact, a service-based club driven by the principles, ethics, and mentorship of Rotary International. Through Interact, our Bulldogs learn the value of “Service Above Self,” develop key leadership skills, and discover how to make a real impact right here in Virgin Valley and beyond. 🌎💙
We are so grateful for local partners who invest their time and wisdom into our kids. Great things are ahead for this group! 💚🤍
