Q - Why did you decide to run for a position on the Water Board?

A- I’ve always cared about our community and wanted to find another way to give back. Water is one of our most important resources, and I want to help make sure we’re making good decisions for our families and future generations.

Q - What would you like to accomplish within your term, should you be elected?

A - My goal is to help keep water reliable and affordable while planning for the future. I want to listen to the community, ask the right questions, and make decisions that benefit the people who live here.

Q - What do you believe are the responsibilities of a member of the WWD Board?

A - I believe our responsibility is to represent the people, be accountable for our decisions, and make sure the district is being managed responsibly. It’s about putting the community first and doing what’s right, even when the decisions aren’t easy.

I know that a utility has sacred responsibilities to those it serves. It has to deliver its product (in our case potable water) to our customers reliably and sustainably, safely, and cost effectively. Reliably and sustainably in that life here depends on a water supply that will be available when we need it today and into the future. Safely in that we protect our customers by testing regularly to meet health standards and we protect our employees in doing their jobs. And finally cost effectively in that we keep the district solvent while maintaining costs as low as possible.
As a person who intends to finish out my days here in the Virgin Valley I am committed to all these goals.

Q - Why did you decide to run for a position on the Water Board?

A - I have always been a proponent of taking advantage of an opportunity when it presents itself. Since I retired to Mesquite, I have found myself in a unique position to volunteer and serve the community. When the Water Board position came open, I thought that this would be a new and beneficial opportunity to serve the people of Mesquite and the larger Virgin Valley.

Q - What would you like to accomplish within your term, should you be elected?

A - I would like to accomplish more transparency to the public during my term on the board. The board should be open to listen to the residents and find out what the needs of the community are, and that is what I am aiming to provide as a member.

Q - What do you believe are the responsibilities of a member of the WWD Board?

A - I believe there are 4 main aspects to the responsibilities of a VVWD Board Member.
1-Ensuring clean and safe water for the district, including but not limited to residents, business, and public works, and to provide reliable access.
2-Maintaining clear oversight to protect ratepayer funds while maintaining sustainable infrastructure investment through sensible budgeting
3-Upgrading and safeguarding local delivery systems to guarantee long-term dependability and minimize costly system emergencies.
4-Reviewing all capital spending projects, ensuring competitive contracting, and clear public reporting of all district expenditures.
