FLOOD RISK INCREASING ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST AND HIGH PLAINSđ§ď¸â ď¸the flood risk will increase over the next few days across parts of the Southwest and Southern and Central High Plains as a surge of tropical and monsoon moisture spreads into the region!
Atmospheric moisture could approach near-record levels for this time of year, creating an environment favorable for very efficient, heavy rain-producing thunderstorms. Multiple rounds of storms could bring several inches of rain to some areas this week, increasing the risk of flash flooding.
The greatest flood concern is across New Mexico, with additional areas to watch across far West Texas, the Oklahoma Panhandle and southern Colorado. Flash flooding could develop quickly, especially near burn scars, normally dry washes and arroyos, low-water crossings, and other flood-prone locations. Never attempt to drive through flooded roadwaysđ§ď¸â ď¸
