(Rosemarie) This is the third campaign that Nancy and I have run together. It saves a lot of money and we really enjoy going out as a pair to talk to voters. We'll be knocking on doors as soon as our campaign literature comes back from the printers. If you want us to stop by your house or meet with a group of you and your neighbors, please let us know!

It's not always easy. Running a campaign together has its issues, specifically when recording a video together. One of us invariably gets into a laughing fit (usually Nancy)!

Guide for REGISTERING to VOTE:

To register to vote in New Hampshire, you need a qualifying photo ID. Following a recent law change, student IDs are no longer accepted as proof of ID.

To register to vote in NH, you need to be a U.S. citizen. You can prove you are a U.S. citizen with documentary proof, prior voter registration in NH, by asking your local election official to search NH Vital Records or DMV info, or, if you do not possess the documents necessary to prove citizenship, you can sign a qualified voter affidavit, subject to the penalties for voter fraud.

re: NH's new "BLUE ENVELOPE PROGRAM" for drivers with autism or a trauma/stressor-related disorder

Do you know a driver who may have difficulty communicating effectively with law enforcement during a traffic stop? If so, please tell them about this program and reach out to the NH DMV.

What is the Blue Envelope Program?

-Our NH House of Representatives colleague, Representative Jodi Newell (Keene) had a wonderful idea (Thanks AND kudos, Jodi!!!) that she believed would help facilitate safer and more effective communication between law enforcement and individuals who may have communication challenges. She filed a bill (HB140) in 2025 that was signed into law, created the "Blue Envelope Program," and became effective in 2026.

The Blue Envelope is intended to:

-Improve communication during traffic stops
-Reduce stress during law enforcement interactions
-Promote safer encounters for both the driver and law enforcement.

How does it work?

-The program (through the DMV) provides a standardized blue envelope that allows drivers to VOLUNTARILY provide important communication information to law enforcement during a traffic stop.” The DMV web page provides full details: https://www.dmv.nh.gov/drivers.../blue-envelope-program

*The envelope does NOT identify a person’s medical condition, and the program is VOLUNTARY.

Who Qualifies?

A Blue Envelope may be issued to New Hampshire LICENSED DRIVERS drivers who have:
-Autism spectrum disorder
-A trauma and/or stressor-related disorder

How Drivers Can Apply:

-To participate, residents begin by completing the Blue Envelope Request Form (DSMV 653) posted on the DMV Blue Envelope Program web page. https://www.dmv.nh.gov/drivers.../blue-envelope-program

*Parents or legal guardians can also apply on behalf of a minor driver who meets qualification criteria (above).

*If a parent is applying for the minor, the minor's birth certificate or adoption certificate must also be provided.

*If a legal guardian is applying for the minor, they must also provide the court order showing appointment as guardian (granting authority to the guardian).

*The DSMV 653 Form Requires:

-Previous submission of Medically Recognized Disorder Indication PDF document (DSMV 643) for autism spectrum disorder.
OR
-New physician certification for autism spectrum disorder or a trauma and stressor-related disorder on the Blue Envelope Request Form PDF document (DSMV 653).

How to Use the Envelope:

-Once received, the individual's driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance can be placed inside the envelope. Emergency contact details, personal communication tips, sensory considerations, and any additional information that may assist law enforcement can be included as well.
-The DMV instructs drivers to attach the Blue Envelope to the driver’s side sun visor, facing the driver when the visor is lowered.

What to do during a Traffic Stop?

Participants should:
-Inform the officer that they have a Blue Envelope.
-Present it when requested.
-Continue to follow the officer's instruction

June 25th was Merrimack’s 11th annual NH Hot Dogz 🌭for Alzheimers event!

What a great day… for a great cause!!!!

HUGE thanks to:

-Event organizers Linda & Greg Durbin, and Dave Brown along with
-The ‘HotDogz Team’ who gave so much of their time and effort;
-The many volunteers who helped the day go off without a hitch;
-The vendors who provided donations and/or attended;
-Members of the community who supported the cause with either a purchase or donation; and
-All those whose monetary donations had totaled $10,000 before the event ended.

It has been an honor to continue to be able to participate in this amazing and fun event, and we look forward to volunteering each year. We all know someone affected by this terrible disease…for me (Nancy), this was both my dad and mother-in-law. We are always in awe and thankful for the level of support this event receives.

If you missed it, 😉 we will see you at the cashier counter next year… and we’ll always be happy to take your 💸 to support such a worthy cause!
