Arrested: Daniel Fournier Age 23

In January of 2026 the Charlevoix County (Michigan) Sheriff’s Office responded to fire at a lumber mill in their jurisdiction. During the course of their investigation, Deputies determined the fire was the result of arson and damages were estimated to be approximately $500,000 dollars. Deputies suspected that Daniel Fournier was involved. During the course of their investigation, Deputies established probable cause to believe that Fournier was in fact involved and were granted a warrant for his arrest.

Deputies tracked Fournier to Merrimack New Hampshire and requested assistance from the Merrimack Police Department in placing him under arrest and executing a search warrant at his residence. Due to a number of aggravating factors, the Merrimack Police Department requested assistance from the Southern New Hampshire Special Operations Unit. On June 23, 2026 at approximately 8:00 am, Fournier was seen operating a motor vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated. Fournier was arrested without incident. At the time of his arrest, Fournier was in possession of a loaded pistol.

Immediately after taking Fournier into custody, a search warrant was executed at his apartment. A female was inside and temporarily detained. During the search, investigators located evidence that connected Fournier to the arson scene in Michigan. They also recovered a loaded pistol that was on a bureau in the master bedroom and a loaded rifle that was leaning against a wall in the office/living room area, under a window that had a clear and unobstructed line of sight of the main driveway and parking lot leading up to Fournier’s apartment building. Investigators also located a number of smoke and incendiary devices. Members from the New Hampshire State Police and Nashua Bomb Squads responded and took custody of the devices so that they could be stored and disposed of safely.

Fournier was transported to the Merrimack Police Department where he was processed and charged with being a Fugitive from Justice. Fournier was arraigned later in the day at the 9th Circuit District Court in Merrimack. Fournier chose not to waive extradition and will remain in custody at the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections until his next hearing on June 30, 2026 at 8:00 am.

We have recently been made aware of a scam that targeted a business with an active Planning Board application. In this incident, an applicant received a fraudulent Planning Board invoice via email that appeared to be from our Planning Board Chair. The scammer was asking for a $4,800 application fee via wire transfer.

Please be advised that any invoice, email, or payment request should be treated with great caution. Do not submit payment or provide personal or financial information in response to suspicious communications. For your knowledge, our office does not generate invoices for application fees. Application fees are always paid at time of application submittal, we would never have a reason to email you an invoice for an application fee. Additionally, our Planning Board Chair does not work at Town Hall and does not make direct contact with applicants.

While we do not make payment requests via email for application fees, we do frequently email payment requests for third party review fees. These emails are always backed with a quote from our third party review engineer, Fuss & O’Neill, and have a payment request letter on our Town letterhead.

To help protect yourself:
• Verify all payment requests by contacting our office directly using the phone number listed on our official website.
• Review the sender's email address carefully, as scammers may use addresses that appear similar to legitimate government or municipal accounts.
• Do not click on links or open attachments in unexpected emails requesting payment.

If you receive a suspicious invoice or payment request related to your Planning Board or Zoning Board application, please forward it to our office for review and verification. Additionally, please follow-up with a phone call to our office.

We take the security of applicant information seriously and are working to raise awareness of this issue. If you have any questions regarding your application fees or payment status, please contact our office directly. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Please read this notice from Town of Merrimack NH and Merrimack Department of Public Works regarding CityLogix vehicles assessing roads and sidewalks in town beginning this month and through 2026 🛴 🚗 🛴 🚗 🛴 🚗

🚧 Road & Sidewalk Assessment Work Underway in Merrimack 🚧

Residents may notice a specially marked vehicle traveling throughout town roads and an e-scooter operating along sidewalks over the coming weeks.

The Town of Merrimack is partnering with Citylogix to launch a comprehensive Pavement and Sidewalk Asset Management Program. Using LiDAR technology, 360° imaging, and AI-powered analytics, Citylogix will collect data on approximately 190 miles of roads and 34 miles of sidewalks to assess infrastructure conditions and help guide future maintenance planning.

Field work begins the week of June 22 and will continue periodically throughout the year as data is collected and analyzed.

If you see the survey vehicle or e-scooter in your neighborhood, there is no cause for concern, they are conducting authorized infrastructure assessments on behalf of the Town of Merrimack.

Please use caution as we have multiple reports of trees and wires down throughout town. Currently So Baboosic Lake Rd is closed between Beebe Ln and the Amherst town line. Baboosic Lake Rd is closed between the Merrimack and Amherst town lines as well.

Significant delays are expected in the area of Route 101A and Continental Blvd on Tuesday June 23 and Wednesday June 24. Travel will be difficult from Continental Blvd turning eastbound on 101A and from 101A eastbound to Continental Blvd. Please avoid the area if possible, or allow yourself additional time.

🚨 If you’re ever unsure about a door-to-door solicitor, please call the Merrimack Police Department’s non-emergency dispatch line at (603) 424-3774.

The Town Manager’s Office has recently received reports of solicitors falsely claiming to be affiliated with the Town of Merrimack. The Town is not associated with these individuals.
