Dear Merrillville & Ross Township Families,

Our hearts are with every family, student, staff member, and neighbor affected by the devastating tornado that impacted our community. The destruction left behind has touched many lives, and we recognize that many families are facing difficult days as they assess damage, navigate disruptions, and begin the recovery process.

During times like these, we are reminded that Merrillville is more than a community—we are a family. We stand together in support of one another, offering compassion, encouragement, and hope to those who need it most.

To those who have experienced loss or hardship, please know that the entire Merrillville community is thinking of you. While recovery will take time, we are inspired by the resilience, strength, and determination that have always defined our community.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the first responders, emergency personnel, utility crews, town & township officials, volunteers, & community organizations working tirelessly to assist those affected. Their dedication and service are making a meaningful difference during this challenging time. THANK YOU to our Pirate personnel working around the clock to ensure that our buildings & grounds can go forward after this devastating event.

As we move forward, we encourage everyone to stay informed through local emergency management officials and community resources, check in on friends and neighbors, and continue to show the kindness and support that make Merrillville such a special place to call home.

The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families remain our highest priority. We will continue to share school-related updates as needed.

Together, we will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger than ever.

Last night, we celebrated the determination, perseverance, and achievement of our Adult Education graduates. Through hard work and dedication, these graduates have reached an important milestone and opened the door to new opportunities for themselves and their families.

Come and join the best! The MHS Cheer Team will host a summer camp for Future Pirate Cheer members!

This camp is open to all MCSC students, grades Pre-K to 8th Grade! June 30th - July 2nd from 4pm to 7pm at the MHS Field House (Entrance M). $85 fee is payable at registration on June 15th at MHS (Entrance M) from 7am-9am. You will receive great instruction, learn new routines, be involved in the 4th of July parade performance, and receive a Pirates 4th of July tee, bow, and poms.
