Congratulations to the Empire Hose Co. 3 Juniors on their official installation!

On Sunday august 23rd, At 11:45 AM, our Junior Officers were officially sworn into their positions by New York State Senator Steve Rhoads. This marks an exciting new chapter for our Junior Program and the next generation of the fire service.

We would also like to recognize and thank everyone whose support and recognition helped make this occasion so special:

On the evening of July 29, 2026, the Merrick Fire Department responded to reports of an MVA with aided. On arrival, crews plus Bellmore-Merrick EMS and Nassau County Police treated at least 2 aided who were transported to area hospitals.

This evening, members of Empire Hose Company 3 held a joint training exercise with the bellmorefiredepartment at their dedicated training facility.

Members familiarized themselves with each other's firefighting apparatus and reviewed tactics and operations.

Understanding how neighboring fire departments operate is crucial to achieving smooth fire ground operations.

Going back to 1972, when these photos were taken in front of Empire Hose Company No. 3’s original firehouse before the construction of the station we proudly operate from today.

Parked in front of the building are two pieces of our company’s history: the 1959 Mack B Series Pumper and the 1970 Diesel Pumper. These apparatus served the Merrick community during an important era in our department’s history and reflect the continued growth of our company through the years.

Although our firehouse and apparatus have changed over the decades, one thing has remained constant: the dedication of the volunteer firefighters who answer the call, day and night, to serve and protect our community.

Meet our 2025 BRP Can-Am, built for rapid response where larger apparatus can’t easily reach.
Equipped with:
80 ft of hose and a 75-gallon water tank for quick brush fire suppression. Additionally, Shovels and rakes for wildland firefighting, backboard and EMS supplies to provide rescue and medical support. Aswell, thank you Uniondale Fire Department for the inspiration. For fleet Friday.
