🚨 PUBLIC NOTICE – WATER MAIN BREAK / CITYWIDE WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTION

The City of Merkel has been notified that a contractor working in Merkel bored through a 6-inch water main line on S. 6th Street between Ash Street and Yucca Street.

Merkel Public Works has shut off water service to the City while crews work to make the necessary repairs. Once repairs are complete, water service will be restored.

After water service is restored, the City of Merkel is expected to be under a Boil Water Notice, likely until Tuesday, pending required testing and clearance.

Residents should plan to boil water before consumption once service is restored and the notice is active. This includes water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice, and preparing baby formula.

The City will provide updates as repairs progress and will notify the public when the Boil Water Notice is lifted.

Water Main Break

A Contractor working in Merkel bored through a 6”Water main line on S 6th between Ash and Yucca. Public Works have shut off water to the City to work on the repairs. Once repairs are complete water will be turned back on to the City. Once service is back the City will be under a boil water notice likely until Tuesday.
