Today, our communities—the City of Meridian and Lauderdale County—are saddened by the loss of Ms. Fannie Johnson.

Ms. Johnson dedicated her life to helping others and making a difference in the lives of countless people throughout our community. She faithfully served as the Executive Director of L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen and also served our community as a former Meridian City Councilwoman.

Her compassion, service, and dedication to others will leave a lasting legacy in our community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ms. Johnson’s family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed.

Jennifer’s EMS Journey

Jennifer first earned her NREMT-B certification on February 5, 1997. She worked full-time in EMS until 2003 and continued working part-time through 2007. After allowing her certification to lapse in 2012, Jennifer returned to the classroom and completed her refresher course in February 2026.

On August 31, 2026, Jennifer officially earned her NREMT-B certification once again—returning to the profession she has dedicated so much of her life to.

Today, the women are hard at work! 💪🚑

Operations Manager Autumn Mize, Paramedic Whitney Garrett, and Ella Smith are putting in the work today—giving our logistics room a fresh coat of paint and a complete reorganization.

And here’s the part that makes it even more impressive… all three of these ladies are coming straight off a 24-hour shift!

That’s dedication. That’s teamwork. That’s Metro.

We’re proud to have people who don’t just talk about getting the job done—they roll up their sleeves and do it.
