The Conservative Clergy Rally for Change in Connecticut is to inform and encourage clergy to make a difference politically in Connecticut so they can worship freely and their members can flourish without moving out of state.
Phil Rizzo began working in his family’s real estate development business after graduating from Villanova University with a business degree. He then started a residential construction business, working across New Jersey and Pennsylvania. His life changed when he came to faith in Jesus Christ. He became a pastor and church planter in New Jersey in 2012. This included co-founding a Christian school where he served as school administrator. Because of ministry hindrances, he founded and started Arise NJ in 2019, focusing on filling school board seats statewide. Then the government overreach and political unrest of 2020 drove him to run for Governor of New Jersey. After less than five months, he finished as a runner-up in the GOP Primary and sparked a statewide movement that continues to grow today. Phil is currently the Spokesman for Project 29:2, an education ministry designed to get people of faith involved in the election process. Phil and his wife Jennifer (also a New Jersey native) have been married for 24 years, have four children, and live in New Jersey.
Pastor David Townsley grew up in a pastor’s home in Connecticut. Following God’s call to preach, he studied music and ministry in college before returning to minister and teach in Southington. After ten years of ministry, God called him to start the Riverside Baptist Church in Litchfield County. After establishing the church, family health and financial challenges led him to drive motor coach buses until the pandemic hit. He and his family then began a landscaping business to serve the Bristol area. After fourteen years of ministry, he and his assistant pastor discovered an illegal adult swinger’s club meeting in the building right next to the church. He led the church and community in the legal battle until the club left town. Seeing the needed impact that Christians can make, he helped found the Connecticut Republican Assembly of Litchfield County in 2025.
