INSPIRED INTO ACTION

Firefighter Al Barnes, a proud member of the Meriden Fire Local 1148, has served our city since 2012, but wore another uniform long before that.

As part of Meriden's annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony, U.S. Army Reserve SGM (Sergeant Major) Barnes reflected on how the events of September 11, 2001 shaped his life.

Eversource Energy now estimates power restoration to be in the neighborhood of 9 AM.

5 a.m. UPDATE

Eversource Energy is still working to restore power to over 5,000 Meriden customers. They are still working to determine the cause of the power outage.

The outage, which has largely impacted north Meriden, in and around the area of N. Colony Rd., was first reported before 3 AM. The expected restoration time is approximately 6 AM.

Meet us at the Meriden Green Amphitheater at 1:00 PM for a fun-filled parade led by the Meriden Bubble Queen!

Come dressed in your patriotic best for a chance to win raffle prizes, including bicycle helmets and safety vests generously donated by the Meriden Public Works Department.

Don't forget to decorate your bike, stroller, wagon, scooter, or anything else that rolls! The more festive, the better!

After the parade, enjoy FREE face painting, followed by an afternoon of music, food trucks, and family fun at the Green.
