PAVING FOR TODAY CANCELED DUE TO INCOMING RAIN

05/12/2026

While we have typically completely shut a section of road down so we could pave a new road in 1 full pass so there is no seam to crack, the section of Shimpstown road that is currently Being done does not allow for that option. We do care that residents have access to their homes and services that need to get in and out. There for, tomorrow’s project will be to complete 1 side of the remaining portion of road, followed by the remaining side on Thursday. Thank you ahead of time for your patience and understanding.

Paving project update, Base coat of blacktop will be placed today 5/12/26, if things go well, the top will be started this afternoon. There is a possibility the section of Shimpstown road from the intersection with PunchBowl road to the Thomas’s farm house will be closed to traffic for a period (Worst case scenario) until it sets up. The school district is aware and will adjust accordingly.

Work begins at 07:00 Am sharp Monday May 11,2026. Beginning in the intersection of Shimpstown road and heading west to the bridge on Punchbowl Road. Monday will consist of milling out the north side shoulder of Shimpstown Road, repairing soft subsurface areas, and rebuilding the shoulder. Grinding off the transition “hump” at the connection to the “relocated road” and stoping there with shoulder repairs.
The “sharp turn” will be “ straightened out” to a more conducive radius. There will also be some radius changes at the intersections of Shimpstown Road and Punchbowl Road. The base layer will then be placed on this area 1 lane at a time to be able to continue vehicle travel.
This process, particularly the filling back in, will be using a very wide machine, for your and the contractors safety, the road may be impassable up to 10-15 minutes at a time. Traffic WILL be released as quickly and as often as possible. Please plan your trips in and out accordingly.
School buses and emergency services vehicles WILL be given priority.
Tuesday May 12, the top coat for the whole area will be placed again 1 lane at a time to maintain traffic flow.
Wednesday May 13 will be finish up day if not completed on Tuesday.
Lines at scheduled to low put down Friday May 15.
Guard rails will then be placed in the coming weeks.
Please allow your self extra time for travel, your cooperation and patience will be appreciated!

Be on the look out next week and through out the summer, the road mower is starting to make his rounds. It takes approximately 4 weeks to cover all 80 miles of road way in Montgomery TWP. Over the winter new safety lighting was installed, for you safety and ours. The new amber and green alternating lighting definitely stands out!!
