Today, the Merced Police Department joined local first responders at UC Merced for the 9/11 Stair Climb Challenge, hosted by the UC Merced Police Department.
With each step, participants honored the first responders who answered the call on September 11, 2001, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the courage shown that day, and the service and sacrifice of those who responded.
Thank you to the UC Merced Police Department for bringing our local first responder community together for this meaningful tribute.
We remember.

Swing by the Merced County Library for a new book today or tomorrow, so you're ready to celebrate National Read a Book Day on Sunday!

We love supporting local organizations, so this is the perfect way to show our local library some extra love.

They're closed on Sundays, so make sure to stop by before then.

Tomorrow is the first day of September, which means the fall season is almost here!

Now we know that it might not feel like cozy fall weather right now, but what's cozier than going to the movies?

So grab a friend, some popcorn, and let the fall season begin!

No big deal, UC Merced is just making history over here.

Since its founding in 2005, a commitment was made to demonstrate environmental stewardship, and they became the first public research university in the nation (and the first institution in the University of California System) to achieve Carbon Neutrality.

Now, what is carbon neutrality?

Carbon Neutrality at UC Merced is achieving zero net greenhouse gas emissions for scope 1 and scope 2 emission sources. This can be done through a combination of energy-efficient design, renewable energy generation, offsets, occupant behavior changes, and clean power.

These actions have been steps toward building solutions for tomorrow, because at UC Merced, sustainability is about building on progress to date.
