This year's Mequon Thiensville Historical Society's annual meeting will feature a presentation titled, "Returning the Land to its Roots." Mequon Nature Preserve Executive Director Kristin Thiel and former Mequon Mayor Christine Nuernberg will be sharing the history and the future of the MNP

The presentation will include the history of the preserve from when European settlers first came to the area, to the development of family farms, and to the implementation of a 150-year land restoration program to re-establish forests, prairies, and wetlands.

The annual meeting and presentation will be held THIS SUNDAY at the Mequon Nature Preserve, 8200 W. County Line Road, Mequon.

Doors open at one, the short annual meeting will be held at 1:30, and the MNP presentation will begin at 2pm.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided by Port Washington State Bank, and several door prizes including gift certificates from Chuck's Place will be given away.
For more information, please call or text 262-242-4653.

On Sunday, three members of the MTHS board enjoyed Breakfast with Santa at the Thiensville Fire Department's pancake breakfast. Shown are Bonnie Heintskill, secretary, Amanda Heintskill, membership chair and Bob Blazich, president. Our wishes for Santa were quite simple ... the continued growth and success for the MTHS in 2014.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel published a great article about our MT Historical Society yesterday. We have been in a rebirthing process for the past two years, and it is really beginning to come together. We still have a long way to go to be truly sustainable, but, as the article points out, we have come a long way. I hope you will enjoy the article and will consider joining our organization. Memberships start at only $10 per year, and you will be making a contribution to preserving the rich history of Thiensville-Mequon.
