Project R.E.A.C.H. (Respite Events Allowing Caregivers Hope)

Project R.E.A.C.H. (Respite Events Allowing Caregivers Hope) Project REACH (Respite Events Allowing Caregivers Hope) is a model service learning respite program for families of children with special healthcare needs.

Project R.E.A.C.H. stands for 'Respite Events Allowing Caregivers Hope'. Founded in the Spring of 2008, Project R.E.A.C.H. is a unique partnership between the Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) community and the non-profit organization Children's Service Society of Wisconsin. At least two all day respite events are hosted on Concordia's campus each year. Approximately 200 CUW students volunteer

each semester for this interdisciplinary service learning project. As a result, approximately 75 children with special needs and their siblings enjoy a fun day of one-on-one attention while their caregivers enjoy a much needed break from the constant demands of caregiving.
