For those feeling discouraged by the election results, we want to leave you with this:
Our values do resonate in Mentor. We heard it at doors, in conversations, and throughout this campaign. The support was real and widespread.

The issue was not belief- it was turnout.

This was an off-year election, and historically, far too many like-minded voters stay home in these cycles. When fewer people vote, the outcome no longer reflects the true voice of the community.

That is what happened here.
This result does not mean the work was in vain. It means the work is not finished.

If we want to see meaningful change in our schools, we must:
Speak up
Show up
Stay engaged
And continue building, neighbor to neighbor

Elections are not won on social media.

They are won by voters who show up.

Let this moment be motivation- not defeat. Our children deserve learning environments grounded in respect, high expectations, and strong community values. That goal has not changed.

We are incredibly grateful for everyone who supported, volunteered, prayed, donated, and voted. You inspired us every step of the way.

Let’s stay connected.
Let’s stay committed.
And let’s continue the work- together.

Let's talk about discipline......

Let’s talk about discipline.

One of our first initiatives, if elected, will be to make serious policy changes that ensure stricter discipline and consistent consequences.

One of the reasons we chose to run is because of the ongoing behavior issues in our schools and the lack of real action to address them. Many parents, staff, and community members have spoken up asking for clear expectations and tougher consequences (think in school suspensions- instead of a free pass to get out of class for 15 minutes in the media center with a device). Yet the final recommendations of the ad hoc committee did not reflect what was asked for.

Consistent expectations and follow-through are life skills, not punishments. The challenges students face today- especially with phones, online harassment, and unfiltered online exposure- are far more intense than what we experienced growing up. We must respond with real and meaningful change.

We are fighting a real battle that is raging against the hearts and minds of our children. This battle requires leaders who have the courage to make tough decisions.

Establishing rules and enforcing them fairly is not unkind. It provides structure, safety, and respect for everyone in the classroom. Support services and counseling are still important- but accountability must come first.

We are the only candidates committed to making these policy changes and enforcing its ex*****on.

Come January when the new cell phone law goes into effect and phones are removed for the entire school day, we need strong policy in place- with clear procedures- to ensure it's followed effectively.

Be an informed voter. This election DEPENDS on it.
Board President Maggie Cook voted to keep several sexually explicit books in our school libraries- including one that graphically described repeated child molestation by a father, without condemning the abuse. (See excerpt in comments. **WARNING-it's disturbing.**)

But it gets worse.

Maggie also voted to REMOVE the Sexual Content Policy- a policy originally passed with full board support that was proposed by Annie Payne. That policy ensured parents would be notified if their child would be exposed to materials with sexual content. Maggie Cook, Ginny Jeschelnig, and Lauren Marchaza removed this policy.
Maggie Cook's voting record consistently lowers the moral bar for our students- from keeping age-inappropriate books to voting against a resolution that would have protected girls from biological boys in bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports teams.

We can’t be shocked that one of our students is charged with 36 heinous felonies when our leadership refuses to stand for virtue, discipline, and basic right vs wrong. It was wrong to allow boys to have access to girls' bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports teams. Wrong and dangerous. Keep in mind, if legislators hadn't stepped in recently, Maggie Cook, Ginny Jeschelnig, and Lauren Marchaza would have continued to place our girls at risk.
It’s time for common sense leadership.

We need all three of us elected- TEAM ISO- to restore trust and raise expectations in Mentor Schools.

It might be cold and a little wet tomorrow night, but our Cardinal spirit will keep us warm! Let’s show up big for the team and prove that Mentor fans are the toughest around.

Tomorrow night our Mentor Cards take on the Euclid Panthers at home. Bundle up and join us to cheer on our boys under the lights! We will be at the entrance handing out Halloween candy. Hope to see you there!
