Today, our Mentor athletes friends, family and school staff came together to cheer on the athletes heading off to the OHSAA State Track & Field Meet at Jesse Owens Stadium. As you load the bus 🚌 and step onto the biggest stage in Ohio, know that you carry more than uniforms and spikes ~ you carry the pride, support, and belief of everyone here in Mentor.
You’ve earned this moment through tough workouts, sacrifices, and relentless determination. Trust the preparation. Trust each other. Compete with confidence, courage, and heart. No matter the outcome, you represent your school and community with class, dedication and passion.

Good Luck at the State Meet Ashlyn!

Now we will recognize the Mentor Girls athletes that qualified to compete this weekend in the State meet.
First up for Mentor Girls Track & Field at the OHSAA State Meet is Freshman Ashlyn McKinney!
In just the first year wearing a varsity letter, Ashlyn has already made a huge impact. A GCC Champion in the Shot Put and a 4th place finisher at Regionals, Ashlyn has shown what hard work, focus, and belief can accomplish in a short amount of time. Competing at the state level as a freshman is no small feat, and it speaks volumes about Ashlyn’s dedication and drive.
Ashlyn steps into the ring this weekend not just representing Mentor, but setting the standard for what’s possible with commitment and confidence.
The future is bright, and this is only the beginning.

Next up for Mentor Girls Track & Field at the OHSAA State Meet is Senior Mel Garrett, competing in the Discus this weekend!
A 4-year letter winner, Mel’s journey has been built on consistency, perseverance, and commitment to the program. From earning GCC Honorable Mention to finishing 6th at Regionals and securing an at-large bid to the State Meet, Mel has proven that hard work pays off especially when it matters most.
This weekend represents the culmination of dedication, practices and unwavering belief. Mel steps into the ring carrying not only experience, but the pride of Mentor and the example of what it means to finish strong.
