The nature preserve includes 1.5 miles of shoreline with rare dune plants, a riverine marsh, mature oak bluff and crescent-shaped open waterways. Containing the greatest diversity of wetland communities within the marsh basin, it serves as an important breeding and nursery area for fish and waterfowl and provides a resting place for neo-tropical birds and butterflies as they migrate each year. The

adjacent marina has 400 drive-up wet slips and the docks can accommodate boats up to 50 feet in length.

HARBOR DRIVE REPAVING NEXT WEEK

Construction crews will be repaving Harbor Drive heading into the Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve and Marina from the top of the hill and across the causeway.

Milling and prep work will take place on April 14 and 15, with paving to follow on April 16.

Access to the Lagoons on Harbor Drive will be limited at times, but the plan is to keep one travel lane open throughout the project.

The City of Mentor is proud to announce that Mentor Lagoons Marina has been recertified as an Ohio Clean Marina.

Following a positive site review on April 6, 2026, the marina has once again earned this prestigious designation. By voluntarily adopting measures to prevent pollution and protect our local waterways and land, Mentor Lagoons Marina continues to set a strong example of environmental stewardship for the recreational boating community and all of Ohio.

This certification is valid for the next five years and underscores the marina’s ongoing commitment to clean water and air quality for generations to come.

The Ohio Clean Marinas Program is a partnership between the Ohio Sea Grant College Program (at The Ohio State University), the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and Ohio Marine Trades Association. The program is designed to encourage marinas and boaters to use simple, innovative solutions to keep Ohio’s coastal and inland waterway resources clean.

ATTENTION BOATERS
The Mentor Lagoons is now accepting deposits for current dock owners and rack customers for the 2026 season. The deadline to pay deposits is Friday, February 13, 2026.

All dock owners and rack customers must provide a current copy of their insurance and registration for every vessel and golf cart stored at the Lagoons. These documents can be emailed to [email protected].
