🌈 June is Pride Month!

Pride Month is a time to celebrate kindness, inclusion, and community. Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported for who they are.

When people feel like they belong, communities are stronger and healthier.

🦇 Bat-ter safe than sorry!

Bats are important for a healthy environment. They help control insect populations, including mosquitoes, and support healthy ecosystems.

However, bats can sometimes carry rabies. If you find a bat in your home, especially in a room where someone was sleeping, or if a person or pet may have had contact with a bat, do not release it until you have spoken with public health officials.

If you have questions about a possible bat exposure, contact the Dunn County Health Department at (715) 232-2388 for guidance.

By respecting wildlife and knowing what to do if an exposure occurs, we can help keep both people and bats safe. 🦇

☀️ June 3 is Wisconsin Heat Awareness Day!

Hot weather can be dangerous. Last year in Wisconsin, there were 10 heat-related deaths and more than 1,000 emergency department visits linked to heat.

Stay safe during hot days by:
💧 Drinking plenty of water
🏠 Spending time in air-conditioned spaces
🚗 Never leaving children or pets in a parked car
🐾 Making sure pets have shade and fresh water
👋 Checking on neighbors, older adults, and loved ones

Know the signs of heat illness. If someone becomes confused, has a very high body temperature, or is vomiting, seek medical help right away.
