The Lundgren Tree Farm

The Lundgren Tree Farm It was by all measures his Walden Pond, and his intent was to create a sanctuary for art and conversation in the isolated beauty of the Upper Peninsula.

In the mid 1950s, Victor Lundgren purchased an 1880s homestead and 360 acres of relatively open fields in the rugged and beautiful country of Menominee, Michigan, located four hours north of Chicago and a stones throw from Lake Michigan. Over the next four decades he planted tens of thousands of trees, converted the barn and chicken coupe into rustic living spaces and spent a good portion of his f

ree time hiking the property, documenting the local flora and fauna with brilliant watercolors and generally finding peace and beauty amongst nature. Our grandfather has passed, but the Lundgren Farm and the sanctuary he created remain alive and well. It is the intent of the extended Lundgren family to see the Lundgren Tree Farm continue its rich history of harboring artists, musicians and writers for time away from the city, to heal, to think, to relax and reconnect with the great outdoors. It is a rustic and funky place, built buy artists and semi-craftspeople, but it's charm and warmth make it a destination that rejuvenates and inspires the spirit and the creative mind.
