City of Menominee, MI - Government Menominee gets its name from a regional Native American tribe known as the Menominee, which roughly translates into "Wild Rice".

The area was originally the home of the Menominee Indian Tribe.

Update as of 6/12/26 - Henes Park Beach is now open.

HENES PARK BEACH CLOSED!
Due to elevated levels of E. Coli, the beach at John Henes Park is temporarily closed. The Public Health Department of Delta and Menominee Counties will continue monitoring the levels and keep the City of Menominee updated. This closure will remain in effect until testing shows that the levels are safe for swimming.

Construction areas will be the 18th Ave sidewalk from 18th Street west to the parking lot of the old Central School, and the sidewalk from 18th Avenue north on 22nd Street by the baseball fields.
