🗞️For over 60 years, The Almanac has brought news and information to local residents without fear nor favor. At its Aug. 11 meeting, the City Council recognized this special milestone with an official proclamation accepted by Editor Andrea Gemmet and Staff Writer Arden Margulis.

The Almanac has always believed strong journalism builds better communities and has demonstrated that mission to the benefit of Menlo Park and other cities in the publication’s coverage area.

The Almanac was a sponsor of the Menlo Park Aug. 12 Sun Kings Summer Concert where we highlighted the anniversary with a community gathering full of music and prizes.

🎉 At its Aug. 11 meeting, the City Council celebrated the The Guild Theatre’s 100-year anniversary with an official proclamation accepted by Guild Theatre General Manager Barry Synoground and Director of Marketing Julie Schuchard.

Opening in 1926 as a movie house, The Guild Theatre became a local institution for decades before closing as a cinema in 2019. It was later reimagined by Peninsula Arts Guild and reopened in 2022 as a live entertainment venue that has brought people together and enriches lives in Menlo Park and beyond.

The venue now hosts a wide range of music, film, comedy, magic, presentations, panel discussions, live streams, video shoots and other programming such as charity fundraisers, birthday parties, private concerts, corporate events and more.

The Guild is celebrating their centennial with a special concert series, which opened on June 14 with The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Check out it throughout the rest of 2026!

🃏💃🏻 Saturday, Aug. 22, the Belle Haven Community Campus was transformed into a Casino Masquerade for the Senior Prom! Arriving dressed to impress, seniors enjoyed an afternoon filled with music, dancing and a little friendly competition at the blackjack and roulette tables.

Music covering several decades kept the dance floor lively and brought back many great memories. Adding to the fun, seniors created their own custom potpourri scent bags to take home along with beautiful masquerade masks and photo keepsakes.

It was a wonderful celebration filled with laughter and memories. Learn more about the Menlo Park Senior Center, including activities and weekly lunch program, at menlopark.gov/seniors
