⭐️ Happy Juneteenth, ! Today we commemorate African American freedom and celebrate the abolishment of slavery as we are reminded of the significant contributions of African Americans to our society. Join us in recognizing the power and resilience of Black Americans and rededicating ourselves to rooting out systemic racism in our community.
🏛️At the June 9 City Council meeting, Program Assistant Anasia Juniel-Rufus accepted an official proclamation recognizing June 19 as Juneteenth in Menlo Park. The City also raises the Juneteenth flag throughout June as a symbol of freedom and the end of slavery, created in 1977 by activist Ben Haith.
Join us today from 5–8 p.m. at Belle Haven Community Campus (100 Terminal Ave.) to celebrate the holiday. Attendees will enjoy resources and vendors, activities for the family, food for purchase and free treats, plus cultural entertainment including storytelling and Caribbean music performance by Asheba, Myke tha Kidd and a Menlo Park Soul Line Dancer.
