Cadet Balogh pictured here logging his tasks/ training/ calls for the day. At Menlo Park Fire we have a tradition of tracking our runs and our days in a red book, and we try and involve the Cadets in this tradition by having them do the same. By the end of the year, almost every page should be filled with what each Cadet accomplished for the day. Thanks for being a part of and carrying on this tradition Cadet Balogh, strong work 💪🔥

Your Menlo Park Fire Cadets pictured here participating in a recent USAR training drill! The goal of this drill was breaching and breaking, specifically a “dirty breach” in both the horizontal and vertical plane. It was loud, dirty and definitely hard work but lots of great lessons were learned! Nice work, Cadets⚒️💨

Cadet Osterlund pictured here filling SCBA bottles for the district’s cache. Part of the responsibility of working at Headquarters and as such, being a Headquarters Cadet, is making sure the spare SCBA bottles are topped off so that any crews throughout the district can come in and swap low bottles as needed. Great job staying on top of this task and thanks for the help, Cadet!

Post drill cleanup! Here Cadet Supelveda helps rehab and reload Engine 1 after a pumping drill for one of our Engineers in training. Not only is it helpful to have another set of hands to make cleanup faster, but it is also another opportunity to learn more about our craft and demonstrate an understanding of how we load our hose at Menlo Park Fire. Everything has its place and way of being loaded so that when it comes to for rapid deployment of hose in a fire, everything goes smoothly. Thanks for the help, Cadet!

Wednesday checks at HQ! Yesterday Cadet Baylon assisted the Headquarters crew with completing their “Wednesday check”. Every Wednesday throughout the District, each frontline apparatus gets a thorough inspection including tilting the cab, checking fluids, brakes, lights, swapping all batteries and of course, starting all the saws. This is also a great learning opportunity to go over saw maintenance and operation as well as troubleshooting. Thanks for the help Cadet Baylon 🚒
