Menlo Park City Council recognized June 5 as National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Commander Dixon and several MPPD staff accepted the official proclamation at the May 19 council meeting. The first Friday in June is observed as National Gun Violence Awareness Day in tribute to Hadiya Pendleton, who was tragically shot and killed at age 15 in January 2013, other victims of gun violence and their loved ones. Join us in continuing to honor those whose lives are cut short each year by gun violence, and the countless survivors whose lives are forever altered
